Repository Import

When moving a repository from one forge to another (e.g., from GitHub to Codeberg), or when you want to copy settings between repositories, you can import configuration to avoid setting everything up manually.

Import Settings

1. Click Enable repository and find the new repository (the one you’re migrating to)

2. Open the dropdown next to it and choose Migrate. This does not enable the repository yet.

3. Select the source repository (the one you’re migrating from)

4. Choose what to import:

   • Settings - Repository configuration (visibility, timeout, approval mode, etc.)
   • Secrets - Repository secrets (values are copied securely)
   • Registries - Container registry credentials
   • Crons - Scheduled pipeline configurations
   • Pipelines - Pipeline history (for reference)

5. Optionally check Delete source repository to remove the old repo after import

6. Click Enable and import to enable the new repository and complete the migration. Click Back to leave without enabling anything.

Tip

When importing pipelines, commit author information is mapped between forges if the same user exists on both forges with linked accounts.

Requirements

• You must have admin access to both repositories
• The source repository must be enabled in Crow
• For cross-forge imports, both forges must be linked to your Crow account (see Multi-Forge)

Use Cases

Migrating to a New Forge

When moving your project from one Git hosting provider to another:

1. Mirror/fork your repository to the new forge
2. Keep the old repository enabled in Crow
3. Migrate the new repository, importing settings from the old one
4. Optionally delete the old repository after verifying everything works

Copying Configuration Between Repositories

You can also use import to copy settings between repositories on the same forge:

• Set up a “template” repository with your standard CI configuration
• Import secrets, registries, and crons to new repositories
• Maintain consistent configuration across multiple projects
